glamorous gerbera

A single radiant blossom becomes a dynamic holiday design.

In an enchanting twist on a single-flower bud vase, a velvety red Gerbera is transformed into a striking holiday nosegay with the addition of a multilayer collar of fresh green and gold Magnolia leaves. While it can be sold as a pretty posy to carry, this artful creation has a multitude of holiday applications. Here, with the Gerbera’s stem cut short, the blossom rests just atop the opening of a contemporary art-glass vase, making a chic arrangement for modest cost.

MATERIALS: Vase, Magnolia leaves, fabric cord and Gerbera from favorite suppliers; Brilliant Gold Colortool from Design Master Color Tool Inc.


How to 1 Punch holes in the centers of small Magnolia leaves with a paper punch. Spray some of the leaves with gold paint.		How to 2 Slide the leaves, in a random color pattern, onto the Gerbera stem and up to the base of the bloom. Rotate the leaves to form a petal-like effect.		How to 3 Tie a shoelace-type bow of braided cord around the flower stem, just beneath the leaves.
