HORTICULTURE ASSOCIATIONS COLLABORATE
OFA – The Association of Horticulture Professionals and the American Nursery & Landscape Association (ANLA) are expanding their partnership to respond to industry challenges.
The national organizations, which have collaborated in the past, are forming a joint venture that involves sharing resources, including appropriate staff, to expand the capacity of both organizations to better support their members and advocate the horticulture industry and its interests before government and the general public. Some of the challenges the multifaceted horticulture industry faces are financial uncertainty, governmental activity and inactivity, and environmental changes.
“This is not a merger, but in several years, if both organizations see the joint venture as a value to our members and further collaboration will better serve [our members] and the industry, the intention is to form a new single premier horticulture organization serving North America,” said OFA President Michael McCabe in a letter to OFA members and supporters.
The expanded partnership will:
• further increase participation in advocacy efforts
• further expand and offer more robust educational programs
• widen the outreach to consumers
• enhance support for research and higher education
• unite thousands of member companies to create a stronger voice and vision for the industry.
