AFE ANNOUNCES THREE NEW FLORICULTURE SCHOLARSHIPS
The American Floral Endowment (AFE) has announced three new scholarships for floriculture and horticulture students that will be awarded for the first time in 2013. They are:
• The American Florists’ Exchange Scholarship — offered to juniors or seniors majoring in agriculture with an emphasis on a future in floriculture. Applicants must be enrolled in a college/university in California or be a California resident attending a college/university in the U.S.
• The Julio and Sarah Armellini Scholarship — offered to sophomore, junior or senior students interested in pursuing careers in the marketing or distribution of floral products.
• The Richard T. Meister Scholarship — offered to graduate students in floriculture intending to pursue a career in the land-grant university system with an interest in research, extension or teaching.
These new scholarships are in addition to the more than 20 existing floriculture scholarships, which range from $500 to $5,000, that the organization awards annually.
Applications for the scholarships must be submitted online and are due, along with supporting materials, by May 1 each year.
