Florists and gardeners have topped the list of happiest workers in the United Kingdom according to City & Guilds’ “Career Happiness Index 2012.” Of the 2,200 workers surveyed, 87 percent of florists reported that they enjoyed their work environments.
The survey also showed that 80 percent of florists feel their work is recognized and appreciated, like managing their own workloads, and having autonomy over their schedules and daily tasks; 82 percent reported greater job satisfaction from being able to use and hone their skills at work; and 89 percent believe their work is worthwhile and useful.
Following florists and gardeners in the job happiness survey are hairdressers(79 percent) and plumbers (76 percent). Ranking lowest on the happiness index are human-resources (HR) workers, IT professionals and bankers.
